Taber, Robert

Taber, Robert
(1865-1904)
Born on Staten Island, New York, the actor began his career in Helena Modjeska's company as Silvius in As You Like It. A competent actor, he was good-looking enough to become a leading man, and his roles eventually included Romeo, Orlando, and Claude Melnotte. He is remembered largely for having been married to Julia Marlowe from 1894 to 1900, during which time she toured as Mrs. Taber.
